Feature: Light and energy for Brgy Southern Davao, Brgy San Vicente
Panabo City (23 February) -- To provide light and energy to the far flung barangays, the Local Government of Panabo headed by Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. thru the City Engineering Office led the "Pailaw sa Barangay" at Prk. 6 and 2, Brgy. Southern Davao on February 16, 2010 and Prk 13, Brgy. San Vicente on February 19, 2010.
The ceremonial switching on of the Pailaw sa barangay signaled the realization of Mayor Silvosa's goals of encouraging the barangay folks to support program for more beneficiaries of electricity in the barangays.
Majority of these villages has the difficulty to have light and electricity because the power grid extension is not technically and financially feasible. These include barangays which have daytime inhabitants who pursue a livelihood such as farming, who go home without light at night.
Providing electricity has the lowest cost because of installation requirements are subsidize by the government. With the right funding and proper project management, rural electrification is one of the biggest accomplishments for the Silvosa's administration.
Mayor Silvosa's agendum of providing electricity in barangays is also being realized with the help of the Davao Light Power Company to provide more reliable and better voltage quality power to some 164 thousand populations of Panabo City. (Markgellor? City Info Office) [top]
