UP president open UP Mindanao infirmary, student center and biotech lab
Davao City (24 February) -- UP President Emerlinda Roman will be the guest of honor on Friday, February 26 at UP Mindanao to cap the fourth week of UP Mindanao's 15th Anniversary celebrations.
Starting at 3 p.m. is the turn-over and inauguration of the UP Mindanao Infirmary, constructed by the Betans Spirit Foundation. At 3:30 PM will be the Ribbon-cutting of the Kalimudan Student Community Center, and at 4:00 PM will be the Ribbon-cutting of the Biotechnology Complex Module 1 at College of Science and Mathematics.
The various public offerings begin on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 8:30 AM at the Lorenzo Hall, Administration Bldg., with the University Forum on Current Issues in the Banana Industry in Mindanao with lectures on "Soil and Biodiversity in the Banana Plantation" by Prof. Eufemio Rasco and "Economic Issues in the Banana Value Chain" by Prof. Larry Digal.
Also on Tuesday, 1:30 PM will be the Symposium on the "Maguindanao Massacre (3rd Month Anniversary)" at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Audio-Visual Room (CHSS AVR). Also on the same day at the Atrium, Administration Bldg. will be the start of the Student Organizations' Fair, organized by the University Student Council that will run from Feb. 23-26.
On Wednesday, Feb. 24, 10:00 AM at the CHSS AVR will be the Lecture on "Measuring Community Capacity for Educational Reforms" by Prof. Antonio Moran and at 1:00 PM at the Atrium will be the "Inter-High School Dance Competition."
On Thursday, Feb. 25, starting 9:00 AM at the School of Management, Iņigo St., will be the lectures "Leadership and Collaborative Marketing Groups: The Case of Farmer Clusters in Lantapan, Bukidnon" by Prof. Luis Hualda, "The Tropical Sea Cucumber Holothuria Scabra in Brgy. Bato, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur: Net Margins and Value Chain Analysis" by Instructor Vlademir Shuck, "Building Effective Community-Based Organizations for Environmental Protection" by Prof. Benjamin Bagadion and "Training Needs Analysis for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Davao City" by Prof. Miguel Soledad.
Also on Thursday, 10:00 AM at the CHSS AVR, Mintal campus will the lecture "Life in the Margins: Manobo People in Mt. Apo" by Prof. Valeriano Clamonte. At 6:00 PM at the Mintal Gym will be the UPMin Dance Ensemble dance concert and varsity recognition program.
On Friday, Feb. 26, 8:00 AM at the Lopez Hall Dormitory will be held a "Blood Donation Drive". Simultaneously, a Medical Mission will be held by the Beta Sigma Fraternity alumni at the new UP Mindanao Infirmary. Around 6 p.m. at Matina Town Square will be the annual "Tatak UPMin" talent show sponsored by the University Student Council.
