Saludo speaks about PGMA's achievements

Davao City (24 February) -- During the forum held in Kapehan sa SM, last February 15, 2009 at SM city mall, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Ricardo Saludo spoke about the President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's over-all achievements during her term.

Saludo mentioned about PGMA's projects focused on the development of farm and irrigation systems of the country. He said that there were almost 1-3 hectares of land under the land reform program provided to individual farmers.

Saludo also said that a total of 4427 to 6557 kilometers of farm to market roads were built and upgraded. Almost 1000 kilometers were in region XI. 28,209 linear meters of bridges were also built under the PGMAs initiative and 7569 were in region XI. There were also 8 sea ports buils in Mindanao.

These developments aims to upgrade the production of farm goods not just in Region XI but through the country as a whole. Among the production major centers in Mindanao that experienced these developments were Cagayan de Oro city, Zamboanga city and the rest in Davao region.

In the aspect of education and educational facilities, Saludo said that the PGMA's administration had provided almost 12, 842 classrooms in Mindanao area. There were 53,000 students catered by these newly furnished classrooms. 2.4 million technical and vocational students graduated under TESDA as part of PGMA's educational programs.

Apart from educational programs, Saludo further mentioned that the Arroyo administration also extended its efforts in providing health plans for every Filipino family. There were a total of 4.4 M budget allocated to the Philippine Health (Phil Health) Card holders per family. 3,300 pharmacies (Botika ng Baranggay) were built in every barangay in the country and a total of 316 pharmacies (Botika ng Bayan) in the country.
