PNP launches hot pursuit operation against Sarangani jail escapee
Alabel, Sarangani (March 5) -- The Sarangani Provincial Police Office Investigation Department Management Service and the Alabel municipal police office today launched an immediate hot pursuit operation for Sarangani provincial jail escapee Muhamad Jafar "Tikboy" Maguid.
Maguid forcibly escaped from his cell on or about 2:00 am Thursday, March 4, according to a jail spot report.
Governor Migs Dominguez and Provincial Police Director Restito Gatira said in a joint statement that guards on duty Cesar Abdon and Benjamen Tondog have been placed under administrative and criminal investigation.
Governor Dominguez also ordered a full investigation of the incident.
Provincial Warden Renato Purisima has subjected himself for investigation with three other outgoing guards from the 4:00 pm.-12:00 midnight shift.
A jail spot report said the jail guards conducted routinary head count at 12:00 midnight and reported the number of inmates was complete. At 5:30 am., inmate Cris Golada reported that Maguid had escaped from his detention cell by sawing off a steel bar.
Maguid is facing charges of murder, arson and robbery with violence against and/or intimidation of person under criminal cases number 3043-08, 3044-08, 3045-08, 3046-08, 3047-08, and 3048-08.
Maguid has been detained at the provincial jail since August 2009. His jail mug shot is now being circulated across the province. (Russtum G. Pelima/Sarangani Information Office) [top]
