BIR awards top taxpayers in Region XI

Davao City (5 March) -- After being honored as having the second highest in tax collection for January 2010, the Bureau of Internal Revenue XI gives back the honor to the top taxpayers in the region in yesterday's awarding ceremony at the SM City Davao.

Deputy Commissioner Atty. Celia King led the awarding ceremony which was also simultaneous held with the 2010 Tax Campaign Kick-Off ceremony.

The city government of Davao and Tagum, as well as the provincial government of Davao Oriental and Davao del Sur, and Barangay Sasa are among the top awardees in the LGU category.

Among the corporations who contributed the highest are Tagum Agricultural Development Co., Davao Packaging Corporation, Panabo Trucking Services, Inc., Crown Communities, Mindanao Shopping Destination, Davao Doctors Hospital, One Network Rural Bank, Emcor, DSG Sons Group, Davao Oriental Electric Coop., Baganga Plywood Corporation, Madyaway Distributor, Hedcor Sibulan, Nakayama Technology, and Rural Bank of Digos.

BIR also recognized top payers in the national government agency category namely; Department of Education (Comval and Davao Oriental), Department of Public Works and Highways (Region XI and Malita), and the Davao Medical Center.

For the individual category, the awardees are Ricardo Canedo Jr., Merlyn Tan, Princess Ursua, Carmen Locsin, Aleli Bisnar, Francisco Lon, Gilbert Yenco, Ricardo Padayogyog, John Ferrazzini, Wilpeter Ngo, Robert Te, Edmundo Pang Sr., Windell Lima, Teodoro Cameros, and Benson Lei.

Regional director Perfecto Aranas said that if only all taxpayers would be as religious in paying as these awardees, then reaching the target collection of P8.1 million for 2010 wouldn't be impossible at all.

Various stakeholders from the different sectors in the community attended the tax campaign kick-off and also pledged commitment to pay correct amount of taxes promptly and with utmost diligence. (PIA XI) [top]
