Reconfigurated CFs to be delivered in Davao del Sur polling precincts today

Digos City (10 May) -- A total of 710 reconfigurated PCOS compact flash cards (CFs) are expected to be delivered today (May 8) to all clustered precincts in one city and 14 municipalities in the province of Davao del Sur in time for the May 10, 2010 elections.

Election Assistant II Edgardo Sadili of the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor said that the reconfigurated CFs arrived yesterday, and were immediately distributed directly to the city and municipalities.

Sadili said that the delivery and installation of the CFs should be completed and in place at the polling precincts today before the scheduled official testing and sealing activity on May 9, 2010.

He said that his office was completing the set-up and venue for the canvassing which will take place at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall at the Provincial Capitol compound.

Sadili added that they also finished delivering notices to all provincial candidates regarding the schedule of convening on May 10, at 12 noon to discuss on the canvassing rulings.

According to Police Officer II Lorna Caraoa of the Davao Sur Police Provincial Office, all PCOS (Precinct Count Optical Scan) machines and election paraphernalia were distributed to the polling precincts as of May 6.

Caraoa said that deployment of two (2) police personnel in each polling center was already in place. She added that personnel from the Philippine Army were also deployed in the hinterlands to augment police force.

Davao del Sur has a total of 710 clustered precincts with a total 518,987 registered voters.

Moreover, Sadili bared that teachers assigned to conduct random audit on the election returns are undergoing a seminar today (May 8) on Random Manual Audit Team.

He said that two teachers not serving as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) are assigned in each municipality and in Digos City. (PIA-XI) [top]
