Sara Duterte bares plans for Davao City as new mayor

By Mai Gevera

Davao City (13 May) -- The would-be proclaimed new mayor of the city Sara Duterte bared plans of having movements in the city government after the throne of his father, former Mayor and now the new vice-mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

"There will definitely be some movement in the organization. Those who are not willing to work with me may resign," she said.

The newly elected mayor is set to be proclaimed this afternoon by the Comelec at the Sangguniang Panglungsod.

The young Duterte, who is the first lady mayor in Davao City, said that the major change she is going to implement in the city is the empowerment of other divisions, and not just focus on the City Mayor's Office.

She would demand and empower division chiefs to come up with projects that would boost tourism, investment, and improve peace and order.

Duterte also bared plan of empowering the City Investment Promotion Office as she observed stagnant movement in the said division the past years.

"They must come up with something new. We need to go out and find investors and not just wait for them here," she said. (PIA-XI) [top]
