Comval provincial winners proclaimed

by Fe Maestre

Compostela Valley Province (15 May) -- The Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) proclaimed on Thursday morning newly elected officials in the province.

PBOC Chair Atty. Marlon Casquejo proclaimed Arturo Uy, who ran unopposed and who garnered 206,920 votes, as governor.

Ramil Gentugaya was declared vice-governor after gaining 195,909 votes. Maricar Zamora Apsay won as the new Congressman of District 1 with 65,819 votes, while second termer Cong. Rommel Amatong for District 2 garnered 88,997 votes.

The following Board members of District 1 were also proclaimed as follows: Joselito Brillantes (72,967 votes); Atty. Dexter Lopoz (55,667 votes); Paul Galicia (54,062); Neri Barte (45,808); and newly elected Heracleo Codilla (42,226).

For District 2 Board members: Atty. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga (78,922 votes); Cesar Richa (69,968); Kristine Mae Caballero (68,121); Ruben Flores (66,523); and Moran Takasan (58,988).

The other members of the PBOC were Provincial Prosecutor Atty. Graciano Arafol, as vice-chair and DepEd Provincial Chief Lillian Calicdan, as secretary.

The newly-elect governor, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to the Comelec, Philippine National Police, Phil. Army and all the rest who helped in the successful conduct of the first automated polls.

Now that the election was over, Gov. Uy has vowed to unite again all newly elected officials regardless of political affiliation and called on them for reconciliation.

"Let us now focus on what we can do and how we can work together for the development in our province," he said. It can be recalled that on his first term in 2007, the governor was able to unite political figures in Comval that were marred then by different political views and partisanship. (ids comval) [top]
