Tagum holds qualifying exam for vocational scholarship program
Tagum City (20 May) -- The City Vocational Technical Scholarship Program (CIVOTESPRO) here conducted Monday (May 17) qualifying exams for nearly 300 aspirants from 23 barangays to avail of scholarship for school year 2010-2011.
Together with Tagum City National Trade School (TCNTS) and Korea/Philippine Vocational Regional Training Center (KORPHIL), CIVOTESPRO handled the exams simultaneously at DN-TLDC Baex, Tagum City and Tagum City National Trade School, Apokon, Tagum City.
CIVOTESPRO provides educational assistance to the poor but deserving Tagumeņos. The program caters to high school graduates and/or college drop-outs who don't have the ways and means to continue their education.
In the process, the scholars are given a chance to choose from two (2) technical vocational institutions, namely, the Tagum City National Trade School at Tagum City and TESDA Korea-Philippines Regional Training Center in Davao City.
For SY 2010-2011, there will be 150 slots for TCNTS and 66 slots for KORPHI.
The examinees who will pass the qualifying examination could avail of and enjoy the benefits to be granted equivalent to the assessment on tuition fees and other approved school fees every month including meal allowances and dormitory expenses.
The program offers the following courses: Automobile Maintenance and Repair, Agricultural Machinery Maintenance and Repair, Food Processing; Hotel and Restaurant Services, Mechanical Processing, Refrigeration and Air Conditions, Welding and Pipefitting, Construction Trade, Automotive, Electronics and Electrical Technology, Computer Technician, Computer Secretariat, Garment Trades and Drafting Technology.
