Panabo City (13 July) -- Around 17 riders from all over Mindanao showcase their skills on rough terrain during the 1st Morocross Exhibition of the Silvosa Racing Team (SRT) held at the racing area last July 7, 2010 at the back of Panabo Multi-Purpose Tourism Cultural and Sports Center (Panabo Gym).
The SRT was founded by Josephine Silvosa- Heimburger, the youngest daughter of Panabo City Mayor Jose Silvosa, Sr., that aimed to gather different motocross enthusiasts in Panabo.
"SRT is an assembly of different motocross enthusiasts in Panabo, with the aim of improving their skills, aside from motocross, the team is gearing for civic activities. We are eyeing for community development and environmental protection," said Silvosa.
Crowds gather to a safe distance near the racetrack to witness the implausible moves and stunts as they compete through the humps and bumps of the muddy ground. Some more expressive spectators shout to cheer their favorite riders while others become speechless as riders execute their aerial tricks as they race with their competitors through the terrain's obstacles.
Panabo PNP and Panabo Emergency and Rescue Services (PEARS) were also present during the event.
"We are always ready to respond in case of fire and medical emergencies," said FO1 Marko Florentino Misyon, Chief of the Emergency and Medical Services of Panabo BFP.
Misyon also said that most of the time, they act as emergency stand-by units if there are events in the city.
The winners of the Expert and Novice categories were the following:
Novice Category:
- Champion : Mackoy Casing
- 1st Runner-Up : Joel Chavez
- 2nd Runner-Up : Bert Calona
Expert Category:
- Champion : Jay R Ombao
- 1st Runner-Up : Pete Lacno
- 2nd Runner-Up : Allan Capilitan
To add more fun, a group of Honda XRM riders also exhibit their skills.
The racing ground that was used during the event will be preserved as a training ground for the SRT members to enhance their racing and ground maneuvers. [top]
