Council of Women conducts search for exemplary mothers

Davao City (13 July) -- The Panabo City Council of Women led by their president Mrs Vergie Silvosa in the collaboration with the Local Government of Panabo conducted the Awarding Ceremony for the 2010 Search of Exemplary Mothers on June 2, 2010 at the ABC Hall, this City.

Search for Exemplary Mother is an annual affair where members from the council of women are chosen to represent their municipality or city to join in the search at the provincial level. They will become a model in uplifting the status of women and to undertake a positive role in the society.

Out of eight who joined the search, Mrs. Mely Bonete from Brgy. Waterfall was awarded as the Exemplary Mother 2010; 1st Runner Up was Mrs. Ma. Enone dela Cueva of Brgy. A.O. Floirendo; and 2rd Runner Up was Mrs. Luzviminda Agoilo of Brgy. New Pandan. Each of the contestants received a garland, sash and bouquets.

They were also given a certificate of recognition for joining the search handed by the president of the council of women. A statue of Blessed Virgin Mary was also handover to the COW president by Mrs. Nieves Puyod as a token of gratitude.

"It is not an ordinary search because its main purpose is to recognize the efforts of mothers in the city," said Mrs.Nieves Puyod, founder-Divine Mercy, Panabo City.

She added that mothers who have paved way of being mothers and public servants is decisive moment that entails time management, extra effort and other skills are required to have.

The criteria for the search includes the involvement in socio-spiritual activities (e.g., promotion of value-based society through spirituality), role model community mother (e.g., epitome of true parenthood), deep-seated sense of commitment to the pillars of truth, honesty, integrity and fortitude (e.g., advocate of non-violence, courageous in upholding time-tested virtues and powers) and excellence in the performance of different roles (e.g., career, wife and community leader). Judges interviewed each contestant to determine the virtues and values that stand out in each one.

Other contestants that stood out were Reciralda Pitao of Brgy. Katualan, Evelyn Gaviola of Brgy. Salvacion, Pacencia Valdez of Brgy. Sto. Niņo, Mrs Estrella delos Amante of Brgy. Upper Licanan and Mrs. Clarita Mosa of Brgy. DAPCO.

Present during the search were City Councilor Jannet Tanong, 2nd District Congressman Antonio F. Lagdameo, Jr. represented by Amado Navales, Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. represented by Severa Libres and members of Council of Women. (Markgellor ? CIO Panabo) [top]
