Davao City (4 August) -- Maj. Gen. Carlos Holganza, commander of 10ID welcomed the surrender of the NPAs whom he called as "long lost brothers and sisters."
"Hardship in the mountains is the prevalent reason for surrender seconded by the longing for their families. Some yielded for varied reasons like misunderstanding among fellow rebels and infighting among leaders over money and position; disgruntled over some policies, some were prevailed upon by relatives and village leaders while some just got tired of running away from authorities." Holganza said.
"We are optimistic that with the current trend, more will surrender and avail of the reconciliation program and take the peaceful path towards societal change." Holganza concluded. (10th ID, PA) [top]
