SBP, Gaisano Citimall to support athletes in Action Coaches Clinic

Davao City (4 August) -- THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Region 11 and Gaisano Citimall are both supporting the Athletes in Action Davao Sports Movement's Coaching Clinic and Strength and Conditioning Seminar on August 9 and 10 here in Davao City.

The venue will be at the fifth level of the Gaisano Citimall in Ilustre St., while the coaches of all the participating teams in the annual Gaisano Cup Inter-School basketball tournament are required to join according to SBP Regional Director Regino "Boy" Cua.

"We are really very grateful for the support of our SBP Regional Director and the Gaisano Citimall," said event coordinator Rael Diaz. Aside from basketball, the organizers are also inviting the coaches of the other sports as well as the P.E. teachers to join the free clinic and seminar. But it will be on a first come, first serve basis only for the first 200 registrants.

Each participant will get a free handout and certificate of participation. The seminar and training program will include topics on the Systematic Approach to Plyometric training, Agility Progressions and quick foot work, Dynamic Warm-up, Sports Performance Nutrition, Weight Training Progressions, Lower Body Training, Speed Training, Core Conditioning, Energy System Development and Myths of Strength Training.

American basketball coach Craig Schinck, founder of International Performance Sciences will be the main resource speaker and trainer. He has served AIA for 13 and half years already and has pioneered the AIA Power now called AIA Sports Performance in 1997.

He started the Strength & Conditioning Training to developing countries and has taught S&C in India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Spain, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Poland, Sri Lanka, and Philippines from Olympic training centers to university athletes and to youth sports. Craig is a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA whose membership is 30,000 strong world-wide) and the NSCA Nebraska state director and the Midwest Regional Director. He is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.

Craig has co-published two articles for the NSCA journal entitled Preparing a Basketball Player for NBA Camp and "Concepts for Baseball Conditioning". Craig also brings the US based Strength & Conditioning along with the understanding of where the world is at in their training methods along with understanding the needs of the international community.

He is a graduate of Oakland-Craig High School and University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Business Administration degree. In High School, he competed in football, wrestling, and track & field, and weightlifting and power lifting in Nebraska. He married Geraldine June 26, 2005 and has two children Grace Maria 3 and Caleb 10 months and resides in Ashland, Nebraska which is between Lincoln and Omaha. Pastor Jose Totie Andes, national director of AIA in the Philippine is also arriving for the seminar.
