25-IB troopers recover firearms in encounter with NPAs
Camp Kalaw, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province (1 September) -- Lt. Colonel Gilbert F Saret Commander of the 25th IB, lauded the outstanding accomplishment of the operating troops of 25th Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry (Agila) Division under 1Lt Albert Beran and 1Lt Ryan Batchar, together with 2Lt Paul Alvin Aguila and 2Lt Michael Jay Mana, during a fifteen minute firefight against more or less fifty (50) Communist Terrorists under GF 20 last Aug 27.
The said encounter resulted to the capture of an enemy temporary outpost/harbor site situated along vicinity Barangay Simulao, Boston, Davao Oriental. The incident further led to the recovery of one (1) Garand Rifle, one (1) 9mm pistol, four (4) improvised explosive devices, one (1) ICOM Handheld Radio, and voluminous subversive documents with high intelligence value.
The capture of the heavily defended outpost has left slight wounds to three (3) of our gallant Fireball Troopers while the enemy experienced so much sufferings as they gravely received fatal blows from the government forces as manifested by heavy bloodstains scattered all over the place. Presently, the troops are continuously pursuing these Communist Terrorists as they splintered into small groups and withdrew to different directions.
The 25th IB through their Research Team for Peace and Development is likewise helping the Local Government of Compostela Valley in the conduct of Rapid Need Assessment for projects that will alleviate the living condition of the local populace and ultimately bring development in the area.
