R1 gov't agencies join RACE mall tour

San Fernando City, La Union (14 September) -- Around 30 regional line agencies (RLAs) will be participating in the two-day R.A.C.E. mall tour initiated by the Civil Service Commission Region 1 purposely to bring the government services closer to the people to be held at the CSI The City Mall, this city on September 14-15, 2010.

"The activity is still in line with this year's celebration of the Civil Service Month with the theme 'In a R.A.C.E. to serve: Advancing Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective Public Service' where various government services will be delivered in a one stop shop venue," Marichu Cuison, Information Officer of the Civil Service Commission said during the "Ammuentayo" radio program of the Philippine Information Agency ? La Union Information Center over DZNL, Aksyon Radyo, San Fernando City recently.

Among the identified government services to be delivered include provision of employment opportunities; legal services; authentication and verification of school credentials; issuance of claim stub for employment abroad and local; motor vehicle registration; licensing for drivers, conductors and student permit.

Selling of NFA rice, assessment and certification of skills test, issuance of postal identification card and introduction of the new postage stamp honoring President Benigno S. Aquino III will also be available.

Information dissemination on government employee's benefits/concerns/issues, various programs/issues/concerns on agriculture, agrarian reform, education and scholarships, land and forest management, entrepreneurship/business venture , housing, civil registration, protection of women and children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities concerns, tax collection campaign and other frontline services will also be catered in the two-day caravan.

Among the participating agencies include the Civil Service Commission, Commission on Higher Education, Departments of Agriculture, Agrarian Reform, Education, Environment and Natural Resources, Labor and Employment, Science and Technology, Social Welfare and Development, Trade and Industry, Public Works and Highways.

The offices of the Maritime Industry Authority, National Food Authority, National Statistics Office, Philippine Postal Corporation, Commission on Population, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Technical Education and Sills Development Authority, Social Security System, Commission on Human Rights, National Telecommunications Commission, and other frontline agencies will also be delivering their vital services.

The Philippine Information Agency will also sit down with the other agencies to help in the advocacy and gather views/reactions on the delivered services. (PIA Region 1/La Union) [top]
