Gov brings light to Napunggas
by Noel Baguio
Davao City (14 September) -- Residents of Puroks 4-10 in Barangay Napunggas, Asuncion, Davao del Norte have every reason to celebrate for the light has finally come to their sleepy village.
They erupted in cheers, expressing their heartfelt gratitude in chorus when Governor Rodolfo del Rosario led the ceremonial switching-on of the energization project that ended the darkness in their homes.
All the barangays of the province are already energized, save for some puroks in far-flung barangays that are yet to be connected to the main electrical trunk lines.
The governor said the lighting of the remaining un-energized puroks continues to be a priority of the provincial government.
He stressed the urgency of adequate power supply in the development of the communities.
He said without electricity the various infrastructure projects put up by the government remain wanting in substance in totally pushing the advancement of the countryside.
The coming of electricity, he added, means better livelihood opportunities and better quality of life for the people in the area.
Aside from the improvement of peace and order condition thru lighted streets, together with better comfort for households, the power will also enable the school children to improve their study habits at night for better academic performance.
Besides the energization project, Barangay Napunggas also received a new stage for their covered court, which are part of the P1 million provided under the governor's Project NOBLE (No Barangay Left Behind). (PIA) [top]
