Bangko Sentral holds economic learning drive

Davao City (15 September) -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is holding a three-day economic and financial learning drive in
Davao City which started yesterday with the hope of helping the public acquire the knowledge and develop skills to make well-informed economic and financial decisions.
Promoting such is BSP's thrust based on an underlying philosophy that a citizenry that is well-informed in economics and finance is a more effective partner in maintaining potency of monetary policy.
On its second day of the information drive is the Financial Empowerment Course for the workforce from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Bangko Sentral Convention Hall. The course is a learning session that discusses financial education, Philippine financial system, basics of budgeting, borrowing and financial planning for life-cycle events.
Also on the same day at the BSP mini theatre is the Financial Learning Campaign for Overseas Filipinos and their beneficiaries. It is a briefing that highlights the importance of using remittances to build-up savings, and directing these into investments in financial products and business ventures.
The info-drive is also reaching out the students on the third day with the Financial Empowerment Course for students at the BSP Plenary Hall.
During the three-day event is also the staging of the financial education exhibit which offers various financial education activities. It features learning booths with audio visual presentations, graphic displays and interactive activities that will help participants become self-reliant.
There is also an economic and financial learning center kiosk, a one-stop center where researchers can access data and information produced and monitored by the BSP. (PIA XI) [top]
