Davao Norte guv ready for PNoy's marching orders

by Noel Baguio

Tagum City, Davao del Norte (23 September) -- Like a loyal soldier, Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario is ready to follow orders and oblige to the wishes of the President.

Gov. Del Rosario said he was prepared to accept any post offered to him by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, should the President ask him to head a regional body or serve a government entity in whatever capacity, in addition to his function as a local chief executive.

He said he cannot say no to the President and that he was willing to take on any other responsibility given to him by Pres. Aquino, for the sake of the country and for the good of his fellowmen.

"I cannot say no to the president basta sa ikabubuti ng ating bansa at ng ating mga mamamayan," he said.

Gov. del Rosario was reacting to the opening statement of Pres. Aquino during his visit to Sto. Tomas, in the province last week, where the President hinted that he will give the governor additional functions in the near future, after acknowledging the substantial support of the governor during the last elections.

Del Rosario was the only governor in the Davao Region who carried the yellow banner during the last national elections in May.

"Alam nyo po kasi si Manong Dolfo isa sa aking kaunlapi yan. Yung suportang natamasa ko dito sa inyong lugar ay talaga namang utang ko sa kanya. At dahil ayaw ko pong masira siya sa inyo, dahil siya ang nakiusap para sa akin, umasa po kayo na bibigyan po natin ng dagdag na trabaho si Manong Dolfo sa nalalapit na panahon," Aquino said.

The president expected the governor to work closely with Luwalhati Antonino, the new chair of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa).

Pres. Aquino visited the Ata-Manobo tribal housing project in Sitio Talus of Barangay San Jose and met with more than 2,000 beneficiaries of the government's Kalahi-CIDSS, 4Ps and SEA-K programs at the Sto. Tomas gymnasium.

He turned over P2.6 million worth of assistance to three small livelihood groups.

Del Rosario expressed the euphoria and gratitude of the whole officialdom and the people of Davao del Norte for the historic presidential visit.

"Hindi sa ano mang bagay, ngunit ang pagpunta po ninyo sa aming lalawigan ay sapat na po para kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa inyo aming mahal na Pangulo (Your mere presence here with us today is enough for us to evermore thank you, our beloved President)," del Rosario said.

He further assured the all-out support and commitment of the Province of Davao del Norte to all the programs and projects of the Aquino administration. (PIO-DavNor) [top]
