BFAR gives 400,000 tilapia fingerlings to Ifugao

Lagawe, Ifugao (25 September) -- The province received last week 400,000 tilapia fingerlings from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for dispersal in some selected municipalities here.
Pio Tayaban of the Provincial Agriculture Office said the fingerlings will be given to the municipalities of Asipulo, Banaue, Kiangan and Hingyon. Each municipality will receive 100,000 fingerlings for rice fish culture experimentation in their respective places.
Tayaban disclosed that nine barangays of the four municipalities have been identified for the rice fish culture experimentation during the training on fingerlings dispersal program. Asipulo has three identified barangays while Banaue, Kiangan and Hingyon have two barangays each.
To ensure the success of the project, the Provinvial Agriculture Office will monitor the implementation and provide technical assistance to the farmers involved in the rice fish culture experiment. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
