PDEA 8 highlights Drug Abuse Prevention Week by burning cocaine bricks from Eastern Samar
Tacloban City (November 18) - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 8 once again commemorates the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on November 14 to 20.
In order to highlight the event, PDEA 8 under the leadership of Regional Director Julius Navales will cause the destruction through burning of 102 kilograms of cocaine bricks which were recovered from Eastern Samar.
Director Navales said that the burning will be conducted on November 19, 2010 at 8:00 o'clock in the morning at the grounds of the Government Center Quadrangle.
PDEA Director General Senior Undersecretary Dionisio R. Santiago will attend the event, Director Navales said.
He added that the PDEA partners in the Region anti-drug abuse campaign were also invited to witness the event.
The burning of the cocaine, Director Navales said, will be conducted immediately after the Inventory which is scheduled at 8:00 o'clock in the morning.
The 3rd week of November of every year pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 214 has been declared Drug abuse Prevention and Control Week.
This year's activities will revolve around the theme "Think Health, Not Drugs."
