Soldiers join Hajj celebration
Davao City (19 November) -- Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP) led by Staff Sergeant Manuel O. Panergo joined in Hajj Celebration, yesterday, November 16, 2010 at Purok Mangga,Brgy. Pangi, Maco, Compostela, Valley Province.
"Hajj" is one of the five pillars or central duties of Islam. It is a set of acts of worship to be performed in and around Makkah at least once in a lifetime by every Muslim satisfying certain conditions," Imam Abdul-Jalil A. Matuan explained.
Brgy. Councilor Nasir Tipas rendered his thanksgiving during the said occasion. He expressed his gratitude to the presence of the military in his area. "All I can say is that, soldiers today are different, they now mingle with the people in communities regardless of race, culture and faith," the Councilor said. "Before I was afraid of them, but now I can see their sincerity in serving the people. I salute the soldiers," he added.
"Hajj celebration" in this mentioned Barangay was celebrated peacefully with the cooperation of the muslim community under the leadership of Imam Abdul-Jalil A. Matuan, Imam of Ka'gan tribe, Konsehal Nasir Tipas and Purok Lider Armadoc E Bustamante.
