DILG sets dates for SK municipal, city, provincial, national federation elections

Manila (26 November) -- The Department of Interior and Local Government has set the dates for the Sangguniang Kabataan federation elections for the municipal or city, provincial and national levels.

DILG Secretary Jesse Robrero issued Memo Circular 2010-132 dated November 19, 2010 setting the conduct of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation elections at all levels.

The municipal and city federation elections will be conducted on December 3, Friday. The Provincial Federation elections will be held on the following Friday, November 10. The SK National elections will be held on January 7, 2011.

Secretary Robredo said that the schedule was set after consultations and agreement with the Sangguniang Kabataan National Federation and the National Youth Commission.

In the same Memo, Secretary Robredo said that the National Youth Commission will act as the official observer during the actual conduct of the SK Federation elections at the local levels.

The DILG may also call on the Philippine National Police, if the situation warrants, for assistance, to ensure smooth conduct of the SK elections.

The payment of registration fee by the participants is authorized chargeable against their respective SK funds subject to existing accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Article XIV of the 2001 Katipunang Kabataan and Sangguniang Kabataan Constitution provides that all SK units all throughout the country to be sequentially federated in all political units, starting in the municipality and city to the provincial and national levels. (PIA 8) [top]
