KALAHI-CIDSS training for Region-XI held

Davao City (3 December) -- DSWD XI Assistant Regional Director Priscilla N. Razon has recently oriented new KALAHI-CIDSS Workers on the goals of the DSWD Kapit- Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan - Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services: Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KALAHI- CIDSS:KKB) at Eden Nature Park. The weeklong event aimed to equip the participants with the knowledge on how to effectively implement the project.

Presently, the project is implemented in Gov. Generoso and San Isidro in Davao Oriental, New Corella and Talaingod in Davao Del Norte, and Compostela and Laak in Compostela Valley.

KALAHI-CIDSS is a community-driven development project that aims to boost the decision-making power of local communities, strengthen their involvement in local development planning, and mobilize local government units and community resources to implement community projects that reduce poverty.

Since 2003, KALAHI-CIDSS has completed 190 community projects in six municipalities -Sto. Tomas and Talaingod in Davao Del Norte, Tarragona and Manay in Davao Oriental, and Laak and Mabini in Compostela Valley.

Community projects prioritized and implemented through the KALAHI-CIDSS Community-Driven Development Process include Potable Water System, Farm-to-Market Road, Tribal Housing, Health Station, Corn Mill, Multi-Purpose Training Center, Rural Irrigation System, Day Care Center, Community Library, Bridge, Food Terminal, School Building, Common Service Facility, Flood Control System, Post Harvest Facility, Shelter Upgrading and Rural Electrification.

These projects amounted to P210.99 million of which P77.24 million or 37% is local government counterpart. (DSWD/carmela cadigal-duron/leslie lao-francisco) [top]
