Feature: DOLE sets month-long celebration of 77th anniversary
San Fernando City, Pampanga (3 December) -- With just a nick of time before the year ends, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is gearing up for its month-long celebration all over the country in light of its 77th founding anniversary.
The DOLE Regional Office 3 (DOLE RO3), under the supervision of Regional Director Ernesto C. Bihis, on its part has prepared a holistic menu of events in line with P-NOY's 22pt. agenda on labor and employment that would surely make this year's month-long celebration here in the region, a memorable one.
Ulat sa Bayan
One of the main highlights of this year's month-long celebration, which falls on DOLE's foundation day, December 8, is the "ULAT SA BAYAN," wherein the DOLE Regional Coordinating Council 3 (DOLE RCC3), which comprises the DOLE RO3, National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB); National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC); Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration (OWWA); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); Philippine Overseas Employment Authority (POEA); and Regional Tripartite and Wages Productivity Board (RTWPB), will present its accomplishments for this year to its media partners.
The said activity will be held on the DOLE at the Conference Room of the DOLE Sugar Workers and Livelihood Training Center (SWLTC) - Regional Office on the above mentioned date at 8:00 A.M.
Orientation on R.A. 9208
DOLE is serious when it comes to issues concerning human trafficking. In this light, DOLE RO3 in coordination with its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) counterparts, this month will be holding a series of orientation and social dialogue on Republic Act (RA) 9208 otherwise known as the "Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003," which will tackle issues on illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and child labor. The said orientation will be held in the City of Olongapo, and the Municipality of Iba, Zambales; the Provincial Capitol of Nueva Ecija; and Provincial Capitol of Pampanga. Moreover, the celebration of World Day Against Trafficking will also be observed and will be held at the Event Center of SM Marilao, in Marilao, Bulacan wherein one of its highlights is the gift-giving to some 100 children who belong to the slum areas of the said province on December 3.
Meanwhile, another gift-giving activity will be held in the Tarlac Provincial Hospital to some 100 patients from the Pediatric Department on December 7.
Series of Job Fairs Set
The DOLE RO3, in coordination with the PESOs from the Municipality of Sta. Rita, Pampanga, and Provincial Capitols of Nueva Ecija and Pampanga, will be holding Job Fairs for both local and overseas employment on December 6,7, and 9 respectively, giving jobseekers an opportunity to find and land jobs just in time for the new year.
DOLE Recognizes its Program Partners
This year the DOLE RO3 would not have achieved great success in attaining its goals in the implementation of its programs, projects and services, without the help of its program partners. In this light, the DOLE RCC will be awarding and recognizing its program partners during the DOLE RCC Family Day, which will be held on December 8.
77 years of par excellence in the delivery of labor and employment programs and services to its clients. More is to come from the DOLE in the years ahead. (DOLE 3 thru PIA 3) [top]
