PNoy cites Task Force Kapatid volunteer coops

Gerona, Tarlac (6 December) -- President Benigno Aquino III on Friday (December 3) awarded plaques of recognition to the 13 electric cooperatives that were part of Task Force Kapatid (TFK) which had helped restore power in areas that were severely battered by Typhoon Juan last October.

The recognition ceremony, dubbed " Ilaw-Bayanihan: Taos-Pusong Pagtutulungan Alay sa Bayan", highlighted thru an audio-visual presentation efforts made by the linemen and foremen of First Laguna Electric Coop. (FLECO), Pampanga I Electric Coop. (PELCO I), Pampanga II Electric Coop. (PELCO II), Peninsula Electric Coop. (PENELCO), Nueva Ecija I Electric Coop.(NEECO I), Nueva Ecija II Electric Coop.-Area 1(NEECO II-Area 1), Nueva Ecija II Electric Coop.-Area 2(NEECO II-Area 2), Tarlac I Electric Coop.(TARELCO I), Tarlac II Electric Coop. (TARELCO II),Zambales II Electric Coop. (ZAMECO II), Benguet Electric Coop.(BENECO), Quirino Electric Coop.(QUIRELCO) and Nueva Vizcaya Electric Coop. (NUVELCO) in rehabilitating the damaged distribution lines in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga and Apayao.

In his speech, the Chief Executive lauded the TFK members in immediately and successfully bringing back electric supply in most of the affected areas within seven days.

This is way faster he said as compared to the slow restorations that were done in the aftermath of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng that took months to be completed.

President Aquino added that his administration is allocating P1.4 billion for the Department of Energy next year to ensure the steady supply of electricity in the country which, according to him, is essential in economic development.

Task Force Kapatid was organized by the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

Expenses for the salaries of the volunteers, including their sustenance during said deployment, were shouldered by the 13 Electric cooperatives. (PIA 3) [top]
