Army conducts campus tour

Camp Kalaw, Poblacion, Monkayo, ComVal (7 December) -- Last December 3, 2010, a total of 1,582 students of Montevista National High Scool in Poblacion, Montevista, Compostela Valley Province participated in an Insurgency Awareness Information Campaign from the 25th Infantry Battalion as part of the unit's information campaign dubbed as "Campus Tours".

The activities were conducted on December 2 and December 3, 2010 in Montevista National High School main and annex campus respectively. The lectures offer an understanding in the insurgency situation and the importance of investing on the youth of today to help end the causes of insurgency. 1Lt. Rey Vergel A Annogui, the Civil-Military Operations officer of the 25th IB who served as the lecturer, complemented the performance and high level of awareness of the students on their role as the future leaders of our country.

This reflected the excellent performance of the teachers of the school in educating the students. Mr. Francisco Pimentel, Principal I of Montevista National High School (Annex) and Ms Lina G Sescon, Principal II of Montevista National High School (Main Campus) both thanked the 25th IB for the activity as it was well appreciated both by the teachers and students who were present.

The Campus Tour of the 25th IB is themed "Kabatan-onan, Ilhon ang Mangingilad" (Our Youth, Beware of Deceit) is a series of information campaign that aims to insulate high school and college students from the Communist Terrorist Movement (CTM) recruitment and influence.

The 25th IB, through the employment of Peace and Development Teams, is, at present, helping the local government of the municipalities of Monkayo, Montevista and Compostela, in the conduct of Rapid Need Assessment, and Peace and Development Outreach Program in order to identify projects that will alleviate the living condition of the local populace, and ultimately bring peace and development in the area.
