DTI-CAR head bats for closer gov't-private tieup

Tabuk, Kalinga (16 September) -- Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cordillera Regional Director Myrna Pablo urged closer tie-up between government and private sectors to hasten business growth in the province.
Pablo, in her keynote message during the Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneur (MSME) Conference here last week, pointed out how frequent consultation between government agencies and stakeholders, particularly the business community, can bring about more realistic actions.
"We, in government, need face to face communication with our client groups to draw significant inputs from you in formulating our plans", Pablo stressed. It is through constant talk that we generate issues and concerns directly affecting your sector, she added.
Pablo exhorted national and local government support on programs implemented by DTI in Kalinga, admitting there is yet a need to improve for greater results.
While we see healthy work partnership between these sectors, there is still a lot more to do if we want our province become a business frontier, she said.
Pablo advocated for open but friendly competition in business, saying this brings about better quality of product and more efficient service to consumers.
In longer terms, this leads to business growth as everybody aspires for excellence but with the common aim for macro-development of the entire province.
Encouraging businessmen to open more investments, Pablo disclosed of existing government investment incentives, through the Local Investment Incentive Council (LIIC). She mentioned among others the tax incentive offered to newly opened micro-business as part of government's assistance to the sector.
Soliciting everyone's help, Pablo said "we never settle on anything than the best, we will not stop where we are, but work together to move Kalinga forward".
Part of the MSME conference is the drafting of the MSME Plan for the province, which needed issues and concerns raised by the business group. (PIA-Kalinga) [top]
