Pantawid Kuryente: Katas ng VAT program benefits KAELCO consumers
Tabuk City, Kalinga (10 October) -- Eighty percent of the Pantawid Kuryente: Katas ng VAT program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo amounting to P7.8 million has been released as subsidy, to benefit 15,714 Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative (KAELCO) consumers.
This was bared by Ana Marie Bucahan of KAELCO adding that the 20% balance or about P2 million for the remaining 3,928 member-consumers of KAELCO will be released after the initial release would have been liquidated.
The Pantawid Kuryente: Katas ng VAT program is a one-time subsidy that only applies to those consuming 1-100 Kwh-a month power consumption. This will be launched in the province on October 16.
According Bucahan, credit memo forms will be distributed during the launching at Kaelco grounds to guarantee availing the P500.00 power subsidy. However, it will not be given as cash but compensated on the succeeding power bills until it has been fully utilized.
"Only residential member-consumers with settled accounts as of May of the current year are qualified for the subsidy," Bucahan stressed.
Tabuk city has the highest number of beneficiaries with 11,100; Conner, 1,583; Pinukpuk, 1,496; Rizal, 2,013; Tinglayan, 860; Tanudan, 233; Lubuagan, 407; Kabugao, 421; Balbalan, 18; Tuao, 1,243; Rizal (Cagayan), 48; and Quezon (Isabela) has 219.
To ensure systematic distribution of the credit memo, KAELCO sets in its guidelines to require member-consumers to present their May 2008 official receipt. If not paid, the consumer has to pay first. Recipients have to present their KAELCO identification card or if none secure one and submit 2 pieces 1x1 recent photo of both husband and wife and pay P40.00; accomplish credit memo form (3 copies) provided by KAELCO.
This program of Pres. Arroyo is a tie-up program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA) designed to help consumers cope with the rising cost of fuel and other basic commodities. (PIA-Kalinga) [top]
