DA-10 vows to ensure free flow of food supplies in Typhoon Milenyo areas
Cagayan de Oro City (6 October) -- The government is putting in place contingency measures along with the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) at the helm in going about the rehabilitation needs of people affected by Typhoon Milenyo.
"One of these measures is to ensure the free flow of food supplies which the Department of Agriculture (DA) is doing in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that is out in the field to make sure prices are stable in the Milenyo-affected areas," Regional Director Joel Rudinas of DA, region 10 said.
He then appealed to farmer-traders in the region who might be interested to serve Metro Manila and other areas damaged by Milenyo not to take advantage of the situation by selling their products at exorbitant prices. (PIA 10)
Too much politicking does not only affect economy but also GRP-MILF peace process - Lanao Sur spokesman
"Too much politicking does not only affect our country's economic growth but it will also affect the on-going GRP-MILF peace process," said Lanao del Sur Provincial Information Officer Samanoding Sansarona.
He said the provincial administration of Gov. Aleem Bashier Manalao along with other Mindanao leaders and their constituents are strongly supporting the proposed constitutional reforms of the government because they believe majority of the people will benefit from it in the long run.
Sanasarona added that most of the Muslim leaders believe in Charter Change or the need to change to a parliamentary-federal form of government as alternative solution to the decade-long Mindanao conflict. (PIA 10) [top]
