PIA Press Release

NVizcaya town goes on computerized transactions

BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (23 October) -- This booming commercial town in the southern part of the province recently launched its computerization program on all its transactions.

Lloyd Valdez, municipal secretary said the computerization program is a partnership project with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Micro Mac Computers (MMC) under the North Luzon Growth Quadrangle (NLGQ).

The NLGQ-endorsed P18 million project was realized with the P12 million investment by the MMC and the P6 million equity of the local government unit.

“With this program, we are expecting to increase our local revenue generation sources by 20 percent,” Valdez told PIA.

The computerized transaction program in this town, which is a pilot area in Cagayan Valley covers all types of taxes such as business, real property, franchise and clearances.

Valdez said the local employees concerned had been trained to operationalize the computerization project which is designed to improve operations, provide faster service and increase revenue collections.

He said the project will also feature a web site where clients needing updates on their tax obligations with the LGU can access it anywhere and anytime of the day.

“We believe that this project would generate more taxes since in the past, tax payers had no idea on how much they would be paying. This is the reason why there are delaying their payment. With this project, they will be properly assisted with the needed information so that they can prepare their payment before the deadline o avoid interest,” Valdez said.

He added that while the project is still on a dry run, they are optimistic that the program will be fully operational by January next year. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
