Sogod day care workers, Maasin City CSWO culminate children's month anew

Southern Leyte (31 October) -- In celebration for the month of October as Children's Month, Day Care Workers Association in Sogod town here culminates its activities with a Children's Show attended by the day care children from different Day Care Centers in Sogod.
Sogod Budget Officer Martin Lagmay reported that to commemorate the activities for the children who plays a vital role in nation-building, Day Care Workers prepared a Children's Show which showcased different talents of the day care children such as folk dance, interpretative dance, Hawaiian dance, balak, chorus and action songs.
The national celebration dubbed as "Bright Child Yaman ng Pamilya, Yaman ng Bansa" was graced by Sogod Mayor Shefferd Lino Tan who delivered a short message this morning, October 30 at Sogod gymnasium.
While in Maasin, the City Social Welfare Office prepared a short program to culminate the month-long national celebration. It was attended by no less than Cong. Roger Mercado as the guest speaker. They celebrated a Holy Mass at the city gymnasium after the parade around the city proper before the program begun.
City Social Welfare Aide Fe Nida Sy reported that Nissin Food Corporation visited some (20) identified barangays around the city to feed about 1,500 children to celebrate the activity. Nissin Food Corp. was regularly feeding about (50) barangays of Maasin City as part of their support to the youths for three years now giving out Nissin noodles, flavored chicken and beef, she said.
It was learned that the celebration was drawn from the approval of proclamation no. 74 declaring October of every year as the National Children's Month to commemorate the Filipino children and emphasize the importance of their role within the family and within the society. It also promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being and shall encourage them to involve in civic affairs. (PIA) [top]
