GSIS launches e-kiosks to speed up transactions
Tuguegarao City (13 November) -- The Government Service and Insurance System (GSIS) launched recently a secure, paperless, end-to-end electronic transaction system that will allow its members to transact business just like using an automated teller machine (ATM).
According to GSIS Tuguegarao Branch Manager Aida Agustin, the project was conceptualized and done by some talented GSIS employees to put up the first-of-its kind in world system.
The biometrics confirmation of the G-W@PS provides more accurate means of verification for the GSIS. It will empower the members to generate loans at their fingertips.
The machine can identify a GSIS member, display all the member's records and even process loan applications of members without any documentary requirement.
Union Bank of the Phil. will still act as the clearing house for loan transactions. The bank is GSIS's partner in the utilization of its e-Card Plus.
Agustin likewise said one kiosk costs about P70,000 including the touch screen. GSIS plans to put 8,000 kiosks nationwide with the first 1,000 targeted by the end of 2007.
After the first kiosk established in Camiguin, the next kiosks will be set up in Batanes, Tawi-Tawi, Romblon and other remote island in the country where members are deprived of GSIS services or practically no GSIS office, Agustin added. (PIA-Cagayan) [top]
