Cagayanons celebrate Local Gov't Code of 1991
Tuguegarao City (13 November) -- The Cagayan State University College of Public Administration joined the nation in celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Local Government Code enactment with a symposium, video presentation and open forum held at CSU Carig recently.
CSU Vice President Dr. Joseph Acorda said this year's theme "Stand-up Against Poverty" calls for a deep commitment and awareness on the innovative measures and expressions of a dream to attain the goals of the Medium Development Plan.
Multi-awarded City Mayor Randolf S. Ting who was the special guest during the celebration encouraged the students and faculty members from various colleges and universities and employees from local and national agencies to strengthen their commitment and synchronize all their efforts to achieve the Medium Development Goals.
At the same time he shared his success stories in local governance and strategies of the LGU in support to MDG.
Regional Directors Milagros Rimando of NEDA, Purita Danga of DOH, Nelly Miranda of DSWD and Renato Brion of DILG likewise shared their accomplishments and agency plans and strategies in pushing for the success of MDG.
The celebration was highlighted with the presentation and awarding of the winning research paper submitted by LGU Solana on the Local Governance System.
The stand up "Tumayo Tayo" pledge coupled with video presentation by the participants was in response to the United Nation's call to stand up against poverty.
The activity was a joint undertaking of CSU College of Public Administration and the Association of Schools of Public Administration of the Philippines. (PIA-Cagayan) [top]
