Lectures on alternative fuels slated in barangays

by BC Gomez

Davao City (31 January) -- The Clean Cities Davao Coalition (CCDC), Inc., and Barangay 29-C will conduct a lecture on alternative fuels program today, January 31, 2007 at the Barangay 29-C grounds starting at 9:00 o'clock in the morning.

Barangay Captain Eddie N. Fuentes said lectures include importance of using alternative fuels, the Bio-Fuels Act of 2006, the active participation of the private sector in promoting cleaner fuels and the Clean Cities Davao Coalition, Inc. (CCDCI).

Fuentes stressed that the most important task is forging an alliance among government and the private sector because government cannot do it alone.

The transport groups can contribute much in this campaign, hence, this activity, he added.

Target participants of this lecture activity are members of the Network Transport Organization (NETO), an organization of transport groups plying the downtown route, Matina-Aplaya and El Rio Subdivision.

Invited to talk are the following: Atty. Ric Mamparo, president, CCDCI; Virgilio Sangutan CCDCI & Davao Inventors Association; Councilor Peter Laviņa; and Bgy. Capt. Eddie Fuentes.

Fuentes said following the activity is a free clinic for attendees of the lecture. Another lecture activity will be scheduled for District 2 and 3 in the coming months.

Neto is composed of over 700 member-drivers.

The Clean Cities Program is a program aimed to tap participation of local government units in the promotion on the use cleaner fuels. (PIA XI) [top]
