DTI director favors RWB to decide wage hike

SURIGAO DEL SUR (January 31) -- Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Andres Yparraguirre, here favors the raising of wages of the private workers through the Regional Wage Boards (RWB) instead of the legislated wage increase.
When finally approve and implemented, the propose P125.00 per day increase would surely affect the business establishments especially the small ones, he said.
According to Yparraguirre the legislated wage hike might result to the reduction of workers and some establishment may even close their business.
He said the regional wage boards usually takes into considerations the welfare of the worker as well as that of the employers. (PIA-Surigao del Sur) [top]
