When there is peace, there's development - Rep. Garcia
By Rose B. Palacio
Davao City (13 April) -- Second District Representative Vincent Garcia said development will always follow when there is peace and that real peace can only be achieved if there is unity especially among leaders of the country.
The President has been calling for a unification among leaders of our country, even among oppositions. Unification is one way to combat mass poverty and gain economic justices.
“Let’s open our hearts for the sake of our fellowmen”, Congressman Garcia said citing positive signs that occurred like the taking off of the economy despite the ongoing political noise and the positive ranking of international credit ratings for our country.
“The inward remittances of our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is one of the contributory factor why the peso gained strength against the dollar that has resulted to lower import costs, particularly in energy”, Congressman Garcia, who is a member of the House committee on energy and economic affairs, said.
“If only our leaders could be united, there would be no more reason why we couldn’t push up our country and hasten our development,” he added.
A strong buoyancy in the economy he said could set the stages for the country’s turn-around.
A stable economy he stressed would bring in more investments and jobs for the people if combined with unity among everybody, equitable revenue program and a sustained fight against corruption. (PIA-XI) [top]
