NVizcaya LGU allocates P2M for rebel returnees
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (October 1) -- The provincial government here has vowed financial assistance to uplift the remaining number of rebel returnees in the province.
Sr. Supt. Segundo Duran, police provincial director said governor Luisa Cuaresma promised to set aside P2 million to be used in providing sustainable livelihood assistance to at least 50 remaining rebel returnees here.
Duran said the remaining rebel returnees have not yet receive any assistance from the government's amnesty program.
"We are in the process of profiling their qualifications so that they can avail assistance from the national government as well as from the local government units," he told PIA.
The provincial director conducted a dialogue Thursday with the rebel returnees and organized them into an association in coordination with the Philippine Army, Department of Interior and Local Government(DILG) and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines(IBP)-NV Chapter.
Duran said they are also coordinating with other national as well as local government agencies for their possible intervention in providing the needed livelihood assistance for the rebel returnees. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
