Region 8 coop summit highlights Cooperative Month celebration
Tacloban City (October 2) -- The Regional Cooperative Development Council of Region 8 in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority of Tacloban City is spearheading the conduct of the 2nd Regional Cooperative Summit, the highlight of the 2007 Cooperative Month Celebration in the Region.
CDA Regional Director Pedro Balundo said that the Summit will be conducted at the DPWH Multi-Purpose Hall at Government Center, Palo, Leyte on October 12, 2007.
This year's theme is "Preserve the Environment, Sustain the Economy. Yes, Cooperatives can!" thru "Strong Partnership: Build Progressive Cooperative Industry."
The celebration is in line with Proclamation 493 Declaring the Month of October 2004 and every year thereafter as Cooperative Month, by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Director Balundo said.
The salient features of the Summit is sharing the Region's Coop Industry Outstanding Experiences; Awarding of 2007 Regional Outstanding Primary Cooperatives and Resolution of Issues and Concerns for National Considerations.
Topic Presentations include Tax Compliance and Tax Exemption for Cooperatives by the Regional Director of BIR Regional Office No. 14; Financial Assistance and Interventions for Cooperatives Productivity by the Land Bank representative.
Through the Summit, it is hoped that the members will s resolve to participate more actively in convergent cooperative development efforts in the Region.
The Summit aims to stimulate the Summit for appropriate participation in the new directions and contemporary thrusts of cooperativism in the Region; and to develop a sense of community or family in the coop sector for the betterment of life in the Region.
All cooperatives and stakeholders are invited to attend this summit, Director Balundo said. The participants will have to register and pay registration fee of P1,000.00 before October 10, to have kit and T-shirt.
