Tabuk SP institutionalizes city LEDAC

TABUK CITY (6 October) -- The city Legislative–Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) is now in placed after Acting Mayor Ranier Sarol signed Executive Order 11-07.

Having seen the 'vital role of close of close coordination' between the executive and legislative branches of the city government in ensuring that plans and policies are effectively and efficiently carried out, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) through Resolution No. 134 series of 2007 requested that the local chief lay down the 'mechanics to functionalize the body'.

Sarol immediately ordered for the organization of the LEDAC, to be chaired by the city mayor and co-chaired by the vice mayor with the legislative body, department heads, and national line agency heads in the city as members.

The EO states that the LEDAC will serve as 'an advisory and consultative body to the local chief executive and legislative development planning, budgeting and formulation and implementation of priority local policies'.

As a body, the council is tasked to determine and recommend socio-economic development goals and policies that would serve as guide in the formulation and implementation of the city development plan ensuring that there is a convergence of the legislative and executive agenda towards the attainment of a common vision for the city.

The council is likewise tasked to receive reports and study measures to improve the implementation of development assistance from multilateral and bilateral entities.

LEDAC's functions also include monitoring the implementation of all approved ordinance, assess the impact of approved measures and to report results of their work to the concerned agencies and to provide recommendations if deemed necessary. (PIA) [top]
