Eco-Youth Camp set in Escalante City
Bacolod City (8 October) -- The Negros Youth for the Environment (NYE) will hold an ecological youth camp, "Outbound Escalante", on Oct. 25-28, at Cansimbog Beach Resort, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
The event is in coordination with the local governments of Escalante and Silay, IKAW-AKO Japan Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection, and an insurance company.
Reynan Garcia, NYE chairman, said the project is an annual activity involving the youth from public and private schools, professional sector, and out-of-school youth.
It is also aimed in giving importance to the environment, and enhancing commitment towards environmental conservation and preservation through lectures, workshops, exposure trip and eco-activity among others.
The camp started in Campomanes Bay, Sipalay City in 2002, and was held in Guimaras Island in 2003, Municipality of Candoni-2004, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras-2005, and Sagay City in 2006. (PIA/cad) [top]
