Dipolog City (8 October) -- About 25 public information officers from the different Local Government Units (LGUs) and National Government Agencies (NGAs) based in Zamboanga del Norte have participated in a two-day seminar-workshop on the bright child program held here recently.
The workshop, which was sponsored by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) in coordination with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), aimed to acquaint the participants with the bright child program as well as the proper approaches to child-friendly reporting in both print and broadcast.
Ms. Denia Gamboa, chief of the public affairs and information office of CWC served as lecturer on the bright child program and the National Plan of Action for Children (NPAC) from 2005-2010. Her colleague, Ms. Arlene Macaraig, gave a lecture on news writing for print.
Mr. Felipo David G. Malcampo, regional head of PIA-9, on the other hand, acted as lecturer on news writing for broadcast.
After the workshop, the participants have committed themselves to incorporate in their respective activities the bright child program.
The bright child program is a holistic approach to child care programs being implemented by the LGUs and government agencies aimed at providing quality health care, guidance and stimulations to children to make them responsible citizens in the future. (PIA-ZN) [top]
