Ifugao hospital reports 108 dengue cases

LAGAWE, Ifugao (15 October) -- The Ifugao Provincial Hospital (IPH) here noted 108 dengue cases from January to September 2007.
Dra Jaqueline Kitong, Chief, Technical Division of the IPH here said that the cases of dengue here has risen in the months of July, August and September but noted that there are no casualties.
Kitong attributed the zero death to the capability of the hospital in treating the disease. There were 18 cases in July, 23 in August and 38 in September.
Kitong disclosed that the municipality of Lagawe registered the highest number of dengue cases with 24, followed by Hingyon 19; Lamut,14, Banaue 12; Kiangan, 11;Asipulo, 6; Mayoyao, 4; Aguinaldo, 3; and Tinoc, 2. There were also 8 outsiders from Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Quirino who had their medical check up at IPHO.
The IPHO and its municipal counterparts had been conducting Information Education Campaign (IEC) in the municipalities to prevent the occurrence of the disease especially in Lamut and Lagawe.
The municipal government here started advocating for a clean environment to prevent diseases caused by a dirty surrounding.
"We are prepared with reagents for dengue and we hope that the procurement will be faster in order to save lives," Kitong said. Due to the long process of bidding at the provincial government, the procurement of medicines and other needs are delayed. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
