Zamboanga to host disaster management national forum

Zamboanga City (October 15) -- Zamboanga City will welcome some 250 newly elected as well as re-elected local chief executives (LCEs) and heads of disaster management offices, civil defense deputized coordinators from disaster-prone areas of region-IX and ARRM.

The 2-day forum is anchored on the 3rd Action Point Plan on Disaster Preparedness Capability Building for local government units (LGUs) with National Disaster Coordinating Council Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. as the keynote speaker.

The LCEs, who themselves will function as disaster managers in their respective areas, will have the rare opportunity to be briefed on hazard and disaster profile by no less than the Glenn J. Rabonza, Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator and NCDD Executive Officer.

Equally important subject matter that the LCEs got to learn from Administrator Rabonza are the socio-economic and development impacts of disaster, significant milestones and trends in disaster management and disaster risk management and institutional and operational arrangements.

City Mayor Celso Lobregat will welcome the participants and the representatives of the different Leagues of the Philippines from the provinces LPP), municipalities (LMP), cities (LCP), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP),and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), who are OCD's partners in the said forum.
