Iloilo City (7 December) -- Better roads and infrastructure facilities will hasten the economic development of the country as well as help improve the lives of the people who rely on agriculture and farming for their livelihood.
This was emphasized by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as she directed the Department of Public Works and Highways to fast track the rehabilitation of roads particularly in agricultural areas in order to facilitate the delivery of products from farms to cities and towns.
In Iloilo City, five major infrastructure projects are being readied for President Arroyo's visit next year to inaugurate the said projects.
These infrastructure projects include the Flyover project which according to the DPWH VI will be completed before the year ends; the Carpenter's bridge in Mandurriao district; the new AA abattoir situated in Brgy. Tacas, Jaro; the new DepEd division of city schools; and the new pedestrian over pass. (PIA) [top]
