"Paskwa sa Negros" opens
Bacolod City (18 December) -- The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental in collaboration with ABS-CBN Bacolod opened recently the "Paskwa sa Negros" at the Capitol Park and Lagoon and will last until December 22.
Highlighting the opening program was the motorcade/parade of Christmas Icons at 5pm and the ceremonial Switch-On of Christmas Lights and Décor around the Capitol complex led by Gov. Marañon, Vice Gov. Isidro P. Zayco, Provincial Board Members and local chief executives.
Following the opening program was a Christmas Show at 7pm and the Santa Claus Contest at 8pm.
Other activities lined up in the weeklong "Paskwa sa Negros" every 6pm at the Capitol Lagoon include Angels of Christmas; L'ecole Christmas Presentation; Christmas Cantata and Bantay Bata "Dinner for a Cause" at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
A Christmas Vocal Solo Contest will take place on Thursday, December 20 and Christmas Dance Showdown on Friday, December 21.
"Daigon", a traditional Ilonggo/Hiligaynon Christmas Show will cap the "Paskwa" on Saturday, December 22. This will be followed by a closing program and awarding ceremony for the Christmas Tree and PNOC-EDC Lantern Making Contest.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) will also hold a daily "Fun Fishing for Kids at the Lagoon" until the last day of the event from 3pm until 5pm.
San Carlos City gets PESO recognition
Meanwhile, the San Carlos City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) was named Best Performing PESO, city category, and ranked first place as Top PESO Implementer in Region 6 for 2007.
The awards were presented by the Department of Labor and Employment at Sampaguita Gardens Resort, New Washington in Aklan recently.
San Carlos City PESO also ranked first place as Top PESO Implementer and third place as Top SPES Implementer in the region in 2006. (CDIC/PIA) [top]
