NVizcaya ROD bares accomplishments
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (February 8) -- Collections by the Register of Deeds here in terms of registration fees increased in 2007 compared to 2006, officials here said.
Lawyer Alexander Calulot, ROD provincial officer said their collections in 2007 rose to P35 million compared to 2006 collections.
He said 90 percent of their collections comes from mortgages from vehicles, lands, and from banks.
"We are advising our fellow Novo Vizcayanos here to register their land titles and other properties," Calulot said.
According to Calulot, their "Handog Titulo" program which intends to facilitate owners of unclaimed land titles is a continuing program to help land owners in registering their land titles specially in remote areas of the province.
In 2004, Calulot, who chaired the Local Board of Assessment Appeals(LBAA) decided the Real Property Tax case of the government's Casecnan Multi-Purpose Irrigation and Power Project(CMIPP), prompting its foreign contractor to pay P250 million.
Since then, the foreign contractor pays their yearly Real Property Tax to the provincial government here.
"With these taxes, the provincial government was able to build more roads and bridges, rehabilitate school buildings and hired more than 400 school teachers to implement its infrastructure and educational projects and programs," Calulot said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
