San Carlos City turns over P3-million school building to DepEd
Negros Occidental (11 February) -- The San Carlos City government turned over a one unit newly completed 2-storey-four-classroom building to the Department of Education (DepEd) and school officials of Florentina Ledesma Elementary School (FLES) in Brgy. I, San Carlos City, this province.
City Mayor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson and DepEd Division Superintendent Ma. Gemma M. Ledesma cut the ceremonial ribbon during the inauguration and turn-over of the newly completed school building which cost the local government more than three million pesos.
In his speech, Mayor Lacson promised a two-room extension to the new building as he pointed out the poor state of the school's old building. The mayor added that the local government could have given more if the city did not lose P42.2 million in the recent IRA issue.
Rogelio Aleta, school principal, said that the project is a great help to the school children since more enrollees are expected this June 2008. To date, FLES has a total of 19 classrooms with a population of 675 pupils. (San Carlos City/PIA/EAD) [top]
