Mining firm eyes skills training center in NVizcaya town
QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (February 11) -- A British-owned mining firm here is set to put up a skills training center designed to help villagers in their quest for employment here and abroad.
Dr. Ernie Mendoza, MTL Philippines Inc. Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs said they are now coordinating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) inorder to establish a training center for interested students needing technical skills.
"We are primarily targeting villagers in barangay Runruno. Eventually, this will also cater within the municipality and even the province," Mendoza told PIA.
He said the training center which will be completed in the middle of this year seeks to train at least 100 scholars in preparation for their employment.
The training center which is part of their commitment to enhance and develop livelihood and employment opportunities within the municipality is also designed to help trainees in reducing their expenses.
"Training centers are very far and it entails additional expenses from the trainees. But once the training center here will be completed, the trainees and their families can save a lot," Mendoza said.
He added that the training center will be manned by technical personnel from TESDA who will screen, train and assess the capabilities and skills of the trainees. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
