NVizcaya citrus farmers to get P2M from DOLE

KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya (February 11) -- Citrus farmers in this town are set to receive more than P2 million funding assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) this month.

Pacifico Moralit, DOLE provincial director said the fund will be handed to the Malabing Citrus Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative on December 16 at the NVSU which will be attended by DOLE Undersecretary Arturo Sodusta.

Moralit said the funding assistance sourced out from the DOLE's Adjustment Measures Program (AMP) intends to help at least 150 tribal folks on citrus production.

"This will be used to train these farmers on citrus production to enhance the quality of citrus produced from this province," Moralit told PIA.

DOLE's accredited partner, the NVSU will provide the necessary research, training and livelihood components of DOLE's AMP for the benefit of citrus farmers.

The P2,089,250 funding assistance which will be released in two tranches is also intended to address the recent viral infestation of several citrus plantation in Kasibu town. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
