Police says series of crimes do not reflect true image of Nueva Vizcaya
Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (14 July) -- The series of crime incidents that happened in the province does not truly reflect the true image of Nueva Vizcaya, an official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) here recently claimed.
Police Inspector Roberto Aldea, Police Community Relations chief of the Police Provincial Office(PPO) said the series of crime incidents that happened in the province were only isolated cases.
"The province of Nueva Vizcaya in general is still a safe and peaceful place to live in. The PNP command is doing all it can to bring the perpetrators to justice," Aldea told PIA.
It can be recalled that the province was recently stunned with crime incidents starting with the rape and beheading of a 10 year old girl in this town, followed by the shooting incident that took place inside the house of Quezon town mayor Aurelio Salunat, leaving his brother, lawyer Ernesto Salunat and a certain Mr. Pataueg seriously wounded.
The attempt on Salunat's life was condemned by the mayors' league and other local officials in the province.
Another crime incident took place in Solano town which involved the shooting to death of Corpuz couple in barangay Namnama last week.
Aldea said the suspect in the rape and murder of the 10 year old girl was already arrested by policemen while investigation is going on in relation to the other crime incidents.
He said the arrest of the rape and murder suspect was a product of a collaboration between the PNP and barangay officials.
"The support of the community to the PNP is still unwavering that is why we always succeed in everything that we do in line with our anti-criminality campaign because we tap the support of our barangay officials and community volunteers," he said.
According to Aldea, the PNP has lined up its calendar of activities for the nationwide observance of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month this July with the theme, "Serbisyong Maayos, Magalang at Mabilis… Patuloy na Handog ni Mamang Pulis."
A two-day seminar on "Barangay at Pulisya Tungo sa Kapayapaan" is being conducted from July 8-9 among barangay captains, police officials, members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa and barangay tanods.to hone their skills as partners of the PNP in the management of peace and order in their communities.
A feeding program for indigents is also lined up for this month and hanging of streamers among other activities.
"We are very proud to say that the community support in our province is very good which is one of the major elements in our common vision and effort of maintaining peace and order in the province," Aldea said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
